These are the faults we are called out for most often. Nearly all of them are repairable — usually in a single visit.

Water not draining

The cycle finishes but the drum is still full, or it stops mid-wash with standing water.

Usually: blocked drain pump, clogged filter or kinked outlet hose

Not spinning

Clothes come out soaking wet, or the drum turns slowly and gives up.

Usually: worn drive belt, carbon brushes, door lock or control board

Leaking water

A puddle under the machine, or water escaping around the door during the wash.

Usually: perished door gasket, split hose, or a cracked detergent drawer housing

Loud banging or grinding

Violent shaking on spin, metal-on-metal grinding, or a rumble that shakes the room.

Usually: worn drum bearings, loose counterweight, or a coin stuck in the drum

Not starting at all

No lights, no response to the start button, or the door refuses to lock.

Usually: failed door interlock, power supply fault or a dead PCB

Error code on the display

UE, E1, 5E, 4E, dE or a flashing light pattern that stops the cycle.

Usually: a sensor, valve or balance fault the code points to directly

Washing Machine Repair Questions

Why is my washing machine not draining?

Nine times out of ten it is a blocked pump filter — coins, hair clips and buttons collect there — or a clogged drain pump. Sometimes the outlet hose is simply kinked behind the machine. It is one of the cheapest and fastest repairs we do, usually finished in a single visit.

My clothes come out soaking wet. What's wrong?

The machine is filling and washing but failing to spin. Common causes are a worn drive belt, worn motor carbon brushes, a faulty door interlock (the machine will not spin if it cannot confirm the door is locked), or an unbalanced load sensor. All four are repairable at your home.

Can you repair the PCB, or do I need a new one?

Often we can repair it. Many "dead board" cases are actually a burnt relay, a failed capacitor or a dry solder joint — repairable at component level for a fraction of a replacement board. We only recommend a new PCB when the board is genuinely beyond economical repair, and we show you why.

How long does a washing machine repair take?

Most repairs are finished in 45 to 90 minutes at your home, because our technicians carry the common spares with them. Bearing replacement is the main exception — it is a bigger strip-down and can take longer, occasionally needing a second visit if your model needs a specific bearing kit ordered in.

Do you repair semi-automatic machines too?

Yes. Semi-automatic twin-tub machines are simpler mechanically and usually cheaper to repair — typically the spin motor, timer knob, drain valve or coupler. We service both semi and fully automatic machines of every major brand.

Is it worth repairing a 10-year-old washing machine?

Usually yes. A pump, belt or door lock replacement costs a small fraction of a new machine and can add years of use. The honest exception is a rusted-out drum or a failed bearing on a very cheap old machine, where the repair approaches the cost of replacing it. If that is your situation we will say so plainly — it is one of the rules we work by.

Do you come to my home or do I bring the machine in?

We come to you. Washing machines are heavy, plumbed in, and almost always repairable on site. Only in rare cases — a major drum strip-down, for instance — do we collect the machine, and we handle pickup and return ourselves. Book a doorstep visit here.
